GENERAL PREREQUISITES:
You must be sponsored by a licensed Alaskan Security Guard Agency
You must adhere to the 13 AAC 60.110. NO EXCEPTIONS!
13 AAC 60.110. Training required
(a) All security guard applicants, before issuance of a temporary permit or submission of an application to the department, must have received at least eight hours of general pre-assignment training relating to their duties and responsibilities as a guard.
(b) All security guards are required to complete satisfactorily at least 40 hours of in-service training within 180 days after employment. Training must include, but need not be limited to
(1) law of arrest;
(2) law of search and seizure;
(3) duties and responsibilities to the employer and client;
(4) fire prevention;
(5) first aid; and
(6) patrol techniques.
(c) All security guards must pass an annual refresher course of at least eight hours on the topics in (b) of this section. Failure to pass the refresher course may be grounds for revocation of a security guard license.

(f) Firearms training required under 13 AAC 60.085(2) may only be administered by
(1) a person certified as a qualified firearms trainer by a federal, military, state, county, or municipal law enforcement agency; or
(2) an employee of a security guard agency who has certification from a nationally recognized organization attesting to his qualifications as an instructor.
(g) Renewal applications must contain a certification stating that the required training has been successfully completed.

Initial 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Prerequisites:
~ You must not be and/or have worked for your sponsor security guard agency within 12 months to take the Initial 8-hour pre-assignment training
~ If you have worked for your sponsor security guard agency within 12 months, then you must show documentation of prior training or your sponsor security guard agency must enroll you for the Initial 8 hr, 40 hr in service and 8 hr refresher back to back as a package course.
40-Hour in-Service Training Prerequisites:
~ You must have taken an Arctic Security Group Initial 8-hour course or your sponsor security guard agency must enroll you for the Initial 8 hr, 40 hr in service and 8 hr refresher back to back as a package course.
Armed Guard / Firearms Training Course Prerequisites:
~ You must have taken an Arctic Security Group Initial 8-hour and 40 hour in Service course or your sponsor security guard agency must enroll you for the Initial 8 hr, 40 hr in service and 8 hr refresher back to back as a package course.
~ Have an open mind.
~ No history of PTSD and or involuntary commitment.
~ Be free of drugs and/or alcohol on training days.
~ Be the age of 18 or older and be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
~ Have completed and show proof of all prerequisites listed for the desired course.
~ Practice safe gun handling at all times.
~ Inform us of any health issues that may affect their training or safety.
~ Have no felony convictions, misdemeanor domestic violence convictions or active restraining orders that would preclude one from owning, possessing or handling a firearm.
Please Note:

Proprietary certifications will be awarded upon individual completion when applicable, ASG Armed Status certification will be awarded after all courses above are completed and the Academy Lead Instructor has approved the individual for graduation.

All courses will have a third party endorsement that is State, Federal or nationally accepted in the Law Enforcement or Security field.

Hours are Literal hour for hour in-person instruction. (Not to be confused with college level academic hours)

All Courses are Pass or Fail with only one re-attempt allowed.
